Rodeo Rapid City Visiting Royalty

 We are incredibly fortunate to welcome an average of twenty state rodeo queen titleholders from across the country to Rodeo Rapid City each year! It is an honor to be one of the first stops on their new journey as they travel the nation representing their states in the rodeo and western industry. We’re proud to be a “must-see” event on their bucket list during their year of service.

Once the queens arrive, their week is filled with nonstop rodeo action, guest appearances, autograph signings, a high-energy style show, and a variety of local sightseeing opportunities. Our goal is not only to provide these remarkable young women with an unforgettable rodeo experience, but also to showcase the beauty of the Black Hills and the unique attractions Rapid City and the region have to offer. For many, it’s their first visit to South Dakota, and we love hearing how much they enjoy the event and how it kicks off their year with excitement and momentum.

A consistent highlight of their trip is a private tour to the top of the Crazy Horse Memorial, generously hosted by the Ziolkowski family—longtime friends of Sutton Rodeo.

In addition to our visiting state queens, we also welcome approximately twenty local titleholders from South Dakota and neighboring states including North Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Wyoming throughout the nine-day show.
